About

Charles Levi’s (b.1997) practice reimagines the queer archive and the nuances of bodily labour through spectacular textile and embroidered works. Using allegory, textile traditions and heraldic symbolism, his works are layered with gestures and codes that unfurl like complex flags or costumes, championing the experience of the queer subject across history. Levi presented his debut solo exhibition at Firstdraft in 2024 titled Luddite/Sodomite, since then he has exhibited work internationally at Art Brussels 40th Fair Edition with AMES YAVUZ in 2024 and was recently named a finalist in the prestigious Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award in 2025.
